Is famous as a port of embarkation to the Poor Man’s Galápagos, Isla de la Plata. This island, with  sea turtles, dolphins, and both blue and red footed boobies as well as albatros, derives its name either from the treasure that Sir Francis Drake buried there, of from the guano that glistens from a distance as ships approach the cliffs. The Ecuadorian Coast, which stretches from Colombia to Peru, is also home to the Ruta del Spondylus, with communities that date back pre Inca to the Columbine period of the country’s history.
