Ecuador at a Crossroads

Ecuador in crisis

Insecurity, economy, and political challenges

Millions of Ecuadoreans are bearing the brunt of a multifaceted crisis that has significantly impacted their quality of life. Severe shortages of potable water, frequent power outages, and a surge in violence have created a climate of deep uncertainty and despair. To make matters worse, economic challenges such as soaring inflation and rising unemployment have severely eroded families’ purchasing power.

No water, no power

Depleted hydroelectric reservoirs

The energy crisis plaguing Ecuador has exposed the fragility of a development model heavily reliant on hydroelectric power. The excessive dependence on rainfall and lack of investment in alternative energy sources have left the country at the mercy of climate whims. Scheduled power cuts and prolonged blackouts have paralyzed economic activity, exacerbated the humanitarian crisis, and generated widespread social unrest. Despite government efforts to diversify the energy matrix, the transition to renewable sources will be a slow and costly process, leaving Ecuador exposed to future similar crises unless structural measures are taken to ensure energy security.

solution

we must contribute

In response to the ongoing energy crisis in Ecuador, the Beyond Chacay Foundation is committed to being part of the solution. Through our successful initiatives in the Galápagos Islands, we have implemented renewable energy projects using solar panels, providing electricity to schools and communities that previously lacked access to clean, sustainable energy. Now, we aim to replicate this model in the most vulnerable areas of the country, bringing light to places where electricity has not yet reached. With your support, we can provide solar energy to these communities, improving quality of life, education, and promoting a more sustainable future. Your donation will make a real difference. Join us and be part of this transformative change!
